Hi all.

I shoot HD footage for international networks from Christchurch and are having trouble distributing the large files this video generates (approx 180Meg per minute).  Uploading a minute of footage on standard Telecom broadband takes about 2hrs @ 25 KB/Sec.  We are in a rurul location and can't get any faster.

Is there a company that offers hi-speed uploading service,  or short term FTP that I can physically take the files into on memory stick and get them ftp hosted or uploaded to our US-based FTP site?

We've investigated a local connection here and it's not worth the investment as jobs are only occasional.  But when we get them,  they need the footage FAST.

Your best bet may be to find an internet cafe or the like with a decent fibre connection or maybe a contact at local ISP/datacenter/company with decent internet connection who you could pay to upload it for you. We have 50mbps international upload available had you been in Auckland =p.

HOLY COW!  That would change our world!  Lucky bugger.

I'm experimenting with FTP2GO on the iPad at the moment.  Maybe there are a few high speed hot-spots around somewhere.

Thanks for the Cafe suggestion though - will hunt around.

Matt @ BME can probably sort you out, he can give you high speed upload via wireless:

depending on where you are, he can give you 10+mbps upload
