An interesting paper from iinet about the speeds and the distance they are delivering ADSL2+ over. This was written to counter apparent claims in Oz that FTTN is required to deliver speeds above 6mbps.
Nothing there to indicate that they have looked into crosstalk issues, which is a real concern if they are wanting to use IPTV as an alternative to sky, where a larger number of people will be subscribing to it.
I have seen the speeds here go down and down and down, and the contracter to telecom puts it down to crosstalk on the cables that were never designed for the bandwidths in use, will be worse on adsl2+. Perhaps if the inground stuff was even cat 3 then they would have more of a show of providing high speed to everyone.
