I was called to a client who has been out of her office for the school office. She is a customer of PlaNet Internet who are resellers of KC Internet.

She is unable to get online via PlaNet. I called all of the numbers I have for PlaNet and KC Internet but I get a disconnected tone on everything - land and mobile numbers.

Does anyone have an idea what has happened? I guess I need to move my client over to another provider.

Never heard of either. What are their URLs, and are their websites online?

Pl.Net / PLaNet is a very old and respected ISP in NZ.http://www.pl.net/

I know nothing about KCI http://www.kci.net.nz/ Not promising when their phones have a disconnection tone.

PLaNets phone number on their website 0800 752638. Is that the number you get no dial tone on?

That is odd. The kc website says there are no problems. Have you tried emailing their support and got a ticket number from them?

This is normal if the ISP uses voip lines for its call centre.
Pl.net are an older niche ISP, and kc.net is also a small niche one based in auckland that caters to other small isp's around the country. Both have been around since BBS days in NZ.

I heard from PlaNet support today that they had been the recipient of a change by Telecom. Hopefully things are sorted now.
