Some ISPs such as NetSmart offer WiMax but it's not Mobile WiMax and requires a fixed receiver. I haven't heard of any plans to introduce Mobile WiMax in NZ.

Don't know too much about what is happening here but I would have thought LTE would have been the technology in the mobile space and WiMax in the static services provider space.

LTE is the way of 4G mobile broadband ahead, and it's already been disclosed by Vodafone about their plans to use LTE when deploying mobile options for last mile coverage in the rural broadband.
