I normally leave my router to sync the line mode automatically, and it normally chooses adsl2+.
Syncs on this line mode are around 4.2mbps down and 0.9mbps up.

But since yesterday it has been negotiating with REadsl and the upload sync has been suffering due to this with syncs of 2.7mbps down and 0.1mbps up.

If i manually change the line mode to adsl2 only then the upload sync is better with a sync of 2.7mbps down and 0.7mbps up.

I think this is due to cabinetisation, I currently have a fault logged with my isp to address this issue but I'm just wondering how my modem chooses its line mode when its set to auto, is it dependent on line attenuation or other factors?

Attenuation has increased from 45db to around 50 for ds and 27db to 31 for us.

Sounds like you are mid way through being cut over to new cabinet. New cabinet live, but you are still connected to exchange, thus suffering mid point injection noise. This will explain why it is trying RE-ADSL, that tends to kick in somewhere around the 50db, or depending on noise conditions etc.
Should sort itself withing a few days normally.
What ISP are you with, and is it on a Telecom Wholesale or ISP's own LLU gear?

Although not as bad as your line conditions, I too experienced a drop in speed while they were switching me over.

It was due to my connection being re-routed though the new cabinet on its way to the exchange, which added extra line length and in turn gave lower speeds.

My link to the exchange didn't get cut until after about 2-3 weeks, at which point my speeds went sky high.

So, maybe you might be in for a bumpy few weeks if your unlucky?

I'm with telstraclear on wholesale. Right on the edge of the exchange border so i have been looking forward to being cabinetised for a long time. According to chorus it was meant to be installed on the 26th of august, tcnz wholesale map shows the cabinet was done in July though.
