Sadly, our old system doesn't quite meet the new standards, so this morning, it was switched off at the wall, and The Last Post was played by a lone trumpeter.

Farvel friend.

You can still send any notices that don't meet the requirements of the copyright act to the old equipment :)

Considering sending them to SaltyNZ and his team.

Everyone knows 2 Degrees prepaid 3G users are the worst infringers.

Speaking of 2Deg I need to get a SIM card for my Telecom Tab. I upgraded to the leaked/hacked Optus 2.2 and gave up my 850MHz XT capability.

And now I have an XT Prepaid SIM that has used data every day for 5 months and never been topped up. Need to find a use for that. (Maybe an Android phone).

A bit of WiMAX lovin' going on to provide full service (net, phone, dialup alarms/sky/eftpos, IP services) to customers who are too far away from copper.

We are also unbundled, and delivering traditional copper services.

We also have other wireless backhaul and redundancy around the bay.

Sweet. Where I live I get pretty reasonable ADSL1 (I'm close enough to the exchange to get full speed). The problem is that the exchange is not planned to be upgraded to 2 or 2+ (let alone VDSL). At least, being rural, there are few enough other users that I can saturate it any time of day.

We looked at getting Compass wireless service to avoid Telecom but unfortunately they require LOS to their tower, and there was an inconvenient amount of hill in the way. XT or Vodafone 3G (900) are available but even at 2degrees prices I would go bankrupt.

Sigh... I knew we should have dropped a fibre in the trench when we moved the house there. If we ever get UFBed we will have to decline.

In short, I wish I had a few more options, but at least it could be a lot worse.

We are LOS too although pretty tolerant of minor LOS issues, and enough redundant transmitters at multiple sites facing in various directions to make lack of LOS a rare event here from what I gather.

We can support all POTS dependant services incl dialup internet over our connections lol.

Another user who comes here bragging about free Internet, and soon this will be "fixed" by some provider...
