Hello Im moving to work form Home in the south Island and need to find a service offering Static IP's, Am currently with Orcon in Auckland, but looked up Wanaka on there map and (think) there was a charge as is out of there region?

Can someone suggest a good service, that uses static IPs?

You're running a DNS server at home?

Snap has said this,

Yes we do indeed have support for Static IP addresses for internet connections.
We also have support for IPv6 if you were to require this, However they are only available dynamically at this point not statically.

are there any other options?

Most ISPs offer static IPs, either free or at a cost, and on some plans but perhaps not others. Choose a provider based on performance and cost requirements, then check to see if they offer a static IP option before signing.

Thanks however I NEED the static IP, so would prefer to check they offer the service before wasting time looking through the other details

So you would prefer to post here and have others list all the ISPs that offer static IPs?

That will be more confusing that simply using it as a criteria for selecting a plan and ISP.

Don't understand what your getting at mate, need the ISPs with Static IPs

If(ISP.HasStaticIP){

Pros and Cons only relates to those services, From what I can tell Orcon (My Current) just has them I don't need to pay more, I guess that is the prefered as is simple to look at the prices, have yet to see the option (Give me a static IP with this plan) or even it listed in the plans features.

Come to the forum to save time, not discover I have to call everyone to work it out. It looks like Snap is the go have a good record (Even though Ive never heard of them), but would be keen to get a bigger picture if possible,

Any idea where a composite list of these and the price of this would be, or should I compile one?

as already said Snap offers the service for free. Ive used them for a couple of years and have a static ip and have not had any problems apart from 1 billing hiccup when I changed plans. Overall Im happy with them.

List of ISPs whom I think offer static IPs and corresponding charges (my guess):

Vodafone: $20/month
Slingshot: $10/month
Snap: $?
Orcon: $?
Xnet: $10/month
Telecom: $10/month
Unleash: Free

This is only guesses so best to research yourself

Man, ISPs and phone companies annoy me (Just had a half hour phone call to tell me they would waiver the 600.00 charge then tell me there was actually no waiver It didn't apply), but anyway - are you sure Snap has free Static IPs, they didn't ,mention there was a charge (when I queried) but looks like there may be,

http://www.snap.net.nz/support/content/3/9/en/can-i-get-a-static-ip-address.html

Seriously don't want to look through each ISPs notes to check this.

Is there a reason my HTML table didn't work?

ISP             Static IP                                      Charge
Snap           Yes                                            ?
SlingShot     Yes                                            $10/month
Orcon          Yes - I think for everyone
Vodafone:    YEs                                            $20/month
Xnet:                                                          $10/month
Telecom:                                                     $10/month
Unleash:                                                      Free
