over the last two weeks i have had clients all over the north island randonly losing adsl sync then having it come back only to go again...

so far in the following areas with varying type of modems/fimrware and varying isps, 1x orcon, 2x clear, 1x xtra, linksys, 3com, dlink, dynalink

muriwai
matamata
hastings
grey lynn

is anyone aware of a software/hardware upgrade going on at the moment that might be affecting this? I have updated one modems firmware which appeared to help for a little while but the random disconnects have started happening again.

conversely i have many cisco adsl routers 837/857/877 etc operating in the same areas and have had no problems whatsoever.

Almost every time it rains in napier, i get called out by a client to a dsl fault with water in the line.

But yes i have noticed a few ppp sessions at a few customer sites failing two or three times a day - not normally noticable except these particular customers are using voip so they loose their telephone call.
