My parents are on Vodafone in Queenstown, on an old plan which they're about to upgrade.

I am wondering if there's any performance differences between Vodafone and TelstraClear, given that they're both on wholesale ports from Chorus. Of course their backhaul makes a big difference - do they hand over to their own backhaul in Queenstown or somewhere else? (TelstraClear has fibre backhaul through Queenstown).

They do various low bandwidth activities, plus video chats to Australia mainly.

Hi, my only comment is that the entire Queenstown DSL service is all taken back to Dunedin which is the closest handover. An educated quess is that with both TCL and Voda being primary telcos they would both have backhaul to Dunedin (along with most other major handover points) as opposed to smaller ISPs that may only handover at one or two locations across the country.
