Lets clarify what 'free' means:

TalkTalk UK (Carphone Warehouse) ~
Required Talk3 plan £8.99 p/month
Line Rental £11.00 p/month
Optional modem £29.99

This gives you:
40GB p/month (subject to fair use policy which restricts 'high bandwidth' (P2P) activity during peak hours. With the right to suspend your service or close your account if you are continually naughty)
8Mbps (subject to availability in your area and your proximity to the local BT exchange)

Whats the catch?:
The contract term is 18 months with an early disconnection fee "an amount equal to the total monthly fees which you would have had to pay under your Contract up to the end of the Minimum Period"

The 'Terms and Conditions' are contained in a 15 page PDF with a huge amount of fine print.

Hi Jama,

I recently returned from the UK and this is a good deal (when you're earning £££'s).  I was on broadband package with BT for around £25/ month and only recevied a 2Mb service with a 5Mb cap.

Cheers, Stevo

I agree it does look like a good deal in the world of pounds sterling. I just wanted to point out that 'free' does not always mean 'free' as in air.
