Hi, have a mate looking for BB in the Whatawhata area, anyone know if there are any providers out that way. He is 9km of cable from the exchange and no cabinets on the horizon, cellular coverage from both Voda and XT is dodgy, hence thought I would check the wisp options for him.

Cheers
Cyril

Not 100% sure, but I think Wired Country (which is apparently now Compass) were out that way?

Worth checking into I'd say.

I have a friend in the Whatawhata area and the only coverage she can get is via a Vodem (dodgy) or FarmSide satellite (expensive).  She has persisted with the Vodem, but constantly complains about losing connection when it is raining.

She already looked at No.8 Wireless but it doesn't cover the valley she is in.

There is a new cellsite scheduled to be built somewhere west of Hamilton under the RBI, but I'm not sure when it will happen, or if it will offer coverage to Whatawhata.

Looked at getting an external antenna?

Hi, I have had an email back from Rural wireless (aka no8wireless) and they do have a project to sight a repeater that will cover that area in the near future, they have put me on a list for notification once its in service.

Thanks for the replies.
