Hi There!

Anyone have any real world experience about Mobile Broadband coverage between VF and Telecom?

Am I reading right on the Telecom site that you can get $25 for 500MB or $50 for 2GB? Nothing in the middle?

Cheers

I can say Vodafone sites now have fibre and run HSPA+

in Whangamata? That would be impressive.  I wasn't aware Fibre ran in those towns.

Coverage map is purple with 2 bars 3G and 2bars Extended.

Chorus is providing Voda with a large amount of its fibre connectivity (correct me if I am wrong or not john) and the following map gives an indication of where fibre currently goes on the mandle.

I used 3G via an iPhone 4 extensively over the holidays in Whangamata and was impressed with the speeds. Tethered an iPad and laptop and they ran just like at home for internet access.

I have some speedtests from 3G broadband over the recent "summer" break, same device, once on each network. On XT http://goo.gl/XeFsM and on VF http://goo.gl/seqAA

This was at peak times with bad weather bringing everyone in Whanga inside and onto their handheld devices. Worth noting I have had significantly better experience from both networks at other times of the year.

The device supports 14.4 and 5.8.

Hi There!

About 800M from the main street, near the beach, I am getting with VFNZ, around 1.5-4.5Mbit (fluctuates quite a lot) with the tendency to be sitting around 3.5Mbit most of the time. I'll try my XT Card as well.

Very acceptable to me.

Also when I called to see if I could add a chunk of data cost effectively to my plan, (No) the CSR noticed my plans were out of date and has been helpful answering my questions. Change of plans and signing of contracts will give my 4 team members more data, more minutes and a saving of around $150 a month!

Happy with VF right now, they are definitely a different company from 2 years ago!

I've seen up around 6/7 from VF and 8 on XT. However, VF always has better Upload speeds. So both networks have the ability. VF seemed to have the better capacity over NY though. Both have been used to play Modern Warfare on a rainy day ;)

Was quite impressed to see both networks looking after popular holiday spots!
