How does the current phone cable run? IE is there ducting? If so just use the current ducting? There must be some kind of easement for utilities on the title?

It will very much depend on the layout and distance of your driveway.

During a meeting with Enable in CHCH, we discussed at lengths this scenario, and it came down a couple of points:

* Enable are mandated to provide up to 30M of trenching/digging/tunneling by CFH - if more is needed, then the end user will need to cough up the rest (using a formalized per-meter price structure)
* If multiple sites can be connected via a single duct, then they will do so (it's by far preferred)

Ultimately, if you order it, and no one else is your driveway is interested, then they'll more or less focus on you :)

If other site are not wanting to connect at the time of construction, they'll likely run ducting capable of handling others at a later date.

From my understanding, all UFB providers are bound by the same 30M distance, but some have a different additional meterage cost.

Its still too early to say what the approach will be for these and other non-standard UFB installs.

We're in the process of running an install trial and working with the industry to better understand the UFB connection process.

This will help provide the insights our industry and customers need to develop UFB products that create the right service experience.

However, under our agreement with the Crown there is a defined distance which sets a ‘standard’ residential install for UFB services. It also outlines the potential additional installation costs for ‘Non-standard’ residential connections.

Im watching this with dread as I am down a shared driveway with a shared multipair to half way down where it goes up the pole and breaks out into the individual aerial cables to the houses.

As far as I am concerned they can run it overground with the power wires that are already an eyesore, but I have a feeling they will insist on disruptive digging and stuff. Not going to be digging up anytime soon as I no longer have the desperate need to upgrade the power supply, and as they have replaced the pole the excuse of it not being able to be climbed wont work anymore ;) but if I do end up getting something thrust the length of the driveway I will be sure to get something for fiber put in too.

They use Hydro-Trenching if there is a Grass Verge along the wright off way. It's not an intrusive process but deffently noisy.

We could use a variety of different deployment techniques – including thrusting, trenching (hydro, micro or conventional) and overhead – when deploying the UFB network. It will depend on how the local network is configured and how services are delivered today.

This is why we’re running the installation trial with retail service providers, so our industry can better understand the connection process
