I'm considering getting a Lenovo Tiny m75q. Looks powerful enough for my needs, and dimensions-wise it's just what I'm after. I'm a bit concerned about the fan noise though. It's not an HTPC so doesn't have to be whisper quiet, but still - I assume a fan in a Tiny form factor is smaller, faster and noisier.

Has anyone made the move from a mid or full tower to a SFF or tiny? Have you noticed any difference in fan noise levels?

We use many Lenovo Tiny's in the office. No fan noise noticeable. Can't comment on home office noise levels

Apparently runs hot and noisy according to some reviews. I think I got the model right with that review link but do check it.

We supply the HP Mini's to clients, and they are nice and quiet when used for day to day office tasks, like a Windows-based All-In-One machine is. If you do something taxing like playing a graphically-intensive game the fan will spin up to a very annoying level.

I had set up the family with a Lenovo AIO computer (with a 7th gen i5 processor) and it was great. Once the kids started playing Minecraft, it got replaced with a SFF machine as the little fan in the AIO was very annoying when running flat out.

I am looking at the NucBox mini which has just been released in the States. It has an I5 processor and 8GB RAM, and seems reasonably cheap. Review is at https://www.techradar.com/nz/reviews/gmk-nucbox2.

Yes, a AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650GE
You would be crazy to buy anything Intel. AMD is faster/cheaper

I've got an M93p which runs quiet. It does have a fan but it's far quieter than my desktop.

Still it's better than the Legion 5 Pro I ordered last week, that has an ETA of August.

If you need something now, you're probably best to checkout a local shop that has stock.

Ouch, this doesn't sound very promising. The last time I had this issue with Lenovo, the order kept being delayed further and further until I've run out of patience and cancelled.

Might not be a bad business for Lenovo - a revolving pile of cash for orders they can't fulfill that accrues interest in the 2-3 months between the payment and the refund.

So, got the unit a couple of weeks ago.

AMD Ryzen 5 4600GE with 16GB RAM.

Super happy. And I mean - super super happy. It's tiny, it's quiet, and it's ridiculously fast for what I need from it. Absolutely brilliant.

I've used a M900 off TradeMe and it runs pretty much silently unless I am doing anything significant. I also run a M93p as my main home desktop and it has a fan that spins up and down but in a completely silent room you can hardly hear it.

Good thing about the M900's is you can put in 32GB of ram and eMMC, so we are using it as a work ESX server now with a 2TB SSD and it is smoking for all our prototyping work without consuming too much power so happy to leave it on 24/7.
