AFAIK Crashplan will back up network locations - BUT is is not officially supported, they do have some directions in their FAQ on how to get around it.

mattwnz: Personally I have tried crashplan as I got a free account with a promotion, and found it far too slow. In a month, I only uploaded about 4GB of data. God know how long it would take, if you needed to download it.

I have just now added the wife's iMac to my Crashplan Family account. It started uploading 16GB an hour ago and now it says it will take 20 hours to complete.

I'd say your 4GB upload taking a month has more to do with the ISP upload speeds and the previous datacentre being in the USA.
