The continuing saga....

Havent heard back from supplier (dont think theyve been keeping on top of their emails, will ring tomorrow), so tonight I figured last thing I can try is dig out my old 9800GTX and throw that in.

(5 mins later)

Its working very happily.

It uses 2x PCI-E power connectors so Im pretty confident the PSU isnt the issue as Im sure this thing draws hell of a lot more than the R7 and its not glitched once.

Will thrash crap out of it over next hour or so to make sure.

Supplier tested the R7 260X for 48 hours and no fault found.  ARGH. But have offered me discount on the fee, so not feeling so bad to have piece of mind that the card seems ok.....

Theyve offered for me to take my system into them and show the fault in person which I may do....  frustrating as hell.

Meanwhile, my girlfriend with a different AMD card has suddenly started experiencing the Black Screen of Death after random crashes and extreamly long boot times.  It hangs on the Windows logo and often won't boot properly until we try a cold boot, rather than a warm reset.

Perhaps this is a driver issue after all?  Either that, or her card is dying too. It definitely seems to be a trend with AMD cards.  Can you try an older version of the AMD driver for that card when you get it back?

That black screen is a driver issue according to the supplier - they said their solution to it so far was to remove all video card drivers, and reinstall the latest drivers and that seemed to work for them.

My system didnt have ANY video drivers installed (7 or 10) and would BSOD.

Weird.  Looks like I have a different issue.  If I were in your position, I'd take your system in.  If it's not a video card or driver issue, it's pretty much just down to the motherboard.

The question I have is this - if it is a driver issue, and re-installing the latest ones from scratch still doesn't fix the issue, would that not still be covered by the warrantee?

Reason - even though there may not be anything physically wrong with the card, the fact the drivers are provided by the manufacturer of the GPU, and clearly, for whatever reason, that particular card is not working properly with those drivers, then the end result is exactly the same. I.e the card is not working due to a manufacturer issue.

Right, it appears ATI may have finally admitted there was an issue and have released a tweaked driver in the driver package. (the overall package still has same version number but the driver itself has been changed)
