I hope I can add a 1070 for the 3 main screens + hdmi 2.0 to the TV and keep the 970 to run a couple of other screens. Will have to upgrade the mobo to an atx one to get more slots tho, since the network card and the additional USB 3.0 card take everything up on a microatx. Then again, if I upgrade the mobo will probably not need the nic since I will not make the mistake of getting a "killer" nic onboard again.

macuser:

Heres a little news, that founders edition that Nvidia was so keen to talk about is really just the new name for reference card/board.  The chip on a founders edition is no better binned, or higher performance - simply a new name for reference board.

so why is is $x00 more than retail?

The lower price is just the MSRP, I suppose the lowest price of the cheapest 3rd party card. I guess it also means to expect super clocked variants to be in excess of the founders addition....so look forward to $750 1070s

You might not need the NIC anyway - you can actually use the Qualcomm Driver for those Killer NICs instead of the Killer one, http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/guide-turn-your-killer-e2200-nic-into-qualcomm-atheros-ar8161.198899/ will help.

Bridging for VMs and vlan still a non-happening thing with the generic drivers, never really tried to see if it sorted the bursty performance and random stalls out. Chucked a $7 realtek card in and away it went with everything I needed.

I did some tests the other night and my current GTX570 sits at 99% GPU usage in the lobby of WoT, when I start to actually play it the fan maxes out and the temp gets dangerously high.

I'm hanging to see what the 1070 retails for as it would give quite a significant performance boost.

Its got a vapor chamber cooler, which is more complex than what most OEM's use. Hence it should be a robust overclocker. I believe the high end OEM cards actually can have potentially better cooling ability (without needing a vapor chamber, i.e open air 3x fan etc).

I'll be looking for another EVGA SSC ACX2.0 for their great factory OC.

with only a single 8pin PEG required I can't see it needing a 3 fan cooler on it heat output should be considerably less

I'll be looking for another 3 fan like the wind force 970 since it is so much quieter than the reference ones.

My 970 SSC ACX2.0 would be dead quiet...until 60-something-degrees, and then it would become a vacuum cleaner

First pricespy listing for GTX 1080 this morning. For a gigabyte founders addition (reference card) $1657.76 as ascent. Obscene.

The reviews are starting to come out for the 1080... I'm more interested in the 1070 price wise though :-)

I want to see how well the 3 monitor aspect correcting thing works before I decide on a 1080 or a second 970 for the machine. It looks so promising to make going tripple head again worth it, but it could also be so wrong or poorly supported too.
