I have been using it as my main browser for a while now, replacing opera, the only thing that bugs me about it, is I can't figure how to stop videos in facebook etc auto-playing Opera had a setting to prevent this, but I dont seem to be able to find that setting in Vivaldi

You can do that via:

  1. From the top right of Facebook, click and select Settings
  2. Click Videos in the left menu
  3. Click the dropdown menu next to Auto-play Videos and select Off

Ok that works for facebook, which was my main issue so all good there

After reading this thread I decided to give it a whirl again. I had not used it since Beta. I still find the interface clumsy and bookmarks managed poorly. Importing bookmarks would be a start.

It renders fast but most browsers do that well these days.

I just feel that it does not really have an advantage over others.

Main reason I still use Opera 12 (just getting harder and harder to stay with now so much is broken) and Vivaldi is I want the tabs at the bottom (ie close to windows tabs). These are the only two browsers allow this. I would move fully from Opera 12 if Vivaldi would add IRC.

Have tried it, though it's quite nice, but am waiting for them to get Xmarks working on it. Might switch to it then (though I'm far from a power user), though equally might go for Edge once that'll take add-ons.

I've been using it for about 6 months - progressively more and more as main browser.  The kicker for that switch was when Lastpass became properly functional about 3-4 months back.

Xmarks works fine for me - the only quirk being that the Vivaldi bookmark structure was a little different to other browsers I relied on (mainly Firefox) - from memory the issue related to the 'main' bookmark list being an (arbitrary) folder on the bookmarks toolbar - rather than a separate category in Firefox/Chrome.

I'm using Vivaldi as my daily driver, and have been since 1.0 came out. I had tried the beta and thought "meh".

It took me a little time to get used to some of the quirks, but in the main I'm loving it.

I was able to import my bookmarks and speed-dial settings. It also imported my saved passwords, which I hadn't expected, but liked.

I'd been an Opera fanboy for ages, but this is the new hotness for me.

Lastpass works fine for me and Xmarks kind of, except it still puts almost all my bookmarks in the Trash folder, which I guess I could just ignore. On the Vivaldi forum it said they use a different storage structure (or something) for bookmarks and Xmarks is never likely to work properly, so can us it as is or use Eversync, which apparently works pretty well.
