these use peanuts power, so i googled the minimum recommended for your set up is 550W and recommended 750W so you're bang on the money. just google your PSU to make sure it does what it says it does ie 750W. should be fine I have heard good things about EVGA ...

Also at 750 you ain't gonna want to put any more power hungry stuff, ie no crazy overclocking (some is ok, and besides your box won't fit a bigger CPU cooler anyway), no 2nd GPU etc.)

What I would do, is ensure your board supports SLI. That one in your link appears to.

I think 750W should be enough to run 2 graphics cards as well. The total power draw is about 160~170W per GTX1080.

The PSU is Gold Rated. So you could potentially get up to a 90% efficiency peak. So even if you maxed both cards, its probably only about 320W draw.

That sill gives you about 350W+ for everything else which is heaps unless you have a LOT of components (HDD's etc). Even then, they wont be all drawing max load at once.

In short.. 750W is heaps.

The STRIX power consumption is not 170 but 203 at max output, I think because it is slight overclocked, or maybe it because it has 3 fans or both. the mobo can easily do 100W (but not much more). Don't forget CPU 100W.

Ah forgot about efficiency. Assume 80% efficiency worst case scenario so 600W. If he wants to do SLI I would have thought 850 or even 1000W PSU. Usually don't cost much to go from 750-850. But cost proportionally more to getto 1000

But PSU is not my strong point, others can chip in. But I'm sure of the max power draw numbers I quoted (acc to google of course)

Just remembered something. Can't SLI on Z170 mobos IIRC. not enough PCI lanes. Someone correct me if wrong.

you are wrong, check the specs of the motherboard

they support SLI it just seems there was/is a driver/bios issue or compatibility issue with windows 10

You can do it, but there are 20 PCI-Express lanes. Each card will have a limit of 8. But that doesn't matter, it would be highly unlikely you would flood the bus. It also only leaves you with 4 lanes for M.2 or other PCI express/sata express devices, which isnt much. This is the main reason why people who intend to SLI all along look at x99 platform.

Im guessing this is what you meant? How easy are these to install?

If you plan 4k gamin, then yeah 1080 is the go (maybe even wait for 1080 ti)

For SSD, yes the 850 pro seems to be the main one currently available in nZ, but there are other options out there. They are double the price, but 5 times the speed.. Just put one in a mates build :-) sex on wheels.
