Hi All

Looking at building a new gaming pc this weekend and have finally decided on the build however i am just getting others opinions on the matter before i throw down a lot of cash.

What resolution do you intend to game at? 1080 is total overkill if only 1080p.

I'd also get an NVME M2 SSD rather than SATA, lightyears faster.

Was going to do 4k gaming, have monitor for it so thought why not go overkill :p

Im guessing this is what you meant? How easy are these to install?

This is my first build however i will have a friend who has built computers with me

The best gaming CPU's are the 6700K & 6600K hands down. Broadwell E is too expensive and gives you nothing extra when it comes to gaming at this stage since games don't really take advantage of more than 4 cores. You can overclock the 6700K up to 4.9Ghz supposedly if you increase the voltage and get a good enough chip in the silicon lottery. You should get AT LEAST 4.5 Ghz out of the 6600K if you go with that chip.

I have the same case in white, and i really like it. Be sure that the heatsink you have chosen will fit in the case i got a Hyper x 212 and it just fits... If not you can got with a 280mm Radiator loop.

You can pick up a GTX1080 for less that that price..... Asus is nice to have however, I have seen some GTX1080's around for sub $1000. For 4K you will need the GTX1080. If you choose to game at 1440 or 1080 it will be a beast (too much of a beast for 1080p imo) for 4K its a requirement.

All in all, nice build.

Having a look it seems the cooler i chose wont fit in the case? I swapped it to the one you have recommended, thanks for the advice!

Last concern, is the 750W PSU enough to run everything?

1. why did you pick 2 different 250gb SSDs? are you asking which one to choose?

2. you might need a better fan cooler if you want to overclock. stick with fan

3. with the kraken gpu you might need a better ventilated case. esp if you also want to OC. atleast 2 large intake fans. don't need exhaust fan. this case looks too restrictive. unless you plan to use it with the side panel removed.

4. can't comment on mobo looks ok?

Depends on what other "things" you've got.

1080 says max power use 200+W, 6600K 100W, mobo usually around 100W. The rest isn't too power intensive. So the numbers add up fine. The question is is the PSU really 750W - i don't know much about the one you chose so I can't say. Someone else should be able to comment

You need some way of getting the heat out of the box. All the fans blow the heat around the box it gets pretty hot in there with nowhere to go. remember the PSU, RAM, and all your drives will also make a lot of heat.

Sorry I misread how many fans are allowed in your box i thought it said one in one out. it actually says 3 in one out. should be fine. ask them to mount both fans as intake. no need exhaust.

these use peanuts power, so i googled the minimum recommended for your set up is 550W and recommended 750W so you're bang on the money. just google your PSU to make sure it does what it says it does ie 750W. should be fine I have heard good things about EVGA ...

Also at 750 you ain't gonna want to put any more power hungry stuff, ie no crazy overclocking (some is ok, and besides your box won't fit a bigger CPU cooler anyway), no 2nd GPU etc.)

If you're building it put one intake fan in the front in the middle, one on the bottom in the middle. That supposedly creates turbulent air to take away all the heat from all over. The positive pressure itself will result in air escaping by themselves, inc around all your other bits taking heat out with them.
