@kiwis please just slow down, and read the information people are giving you. whats the hurry?

 

no a 6+2 wont work, thats PCI-E not for the motherboard as mentioned  previously

 

Buy a 500W or higher power supply from a decent brand like one of the ones lNomNoml mentioned, id also add seasonic to that list.

 

thats all you need to do.

Okay, I’m just curious to how my previous board got power??

I also have 2x 4pin plugs... yellow wires. Could this be power?

Did you check when you pulled he old system out?
Did you have a quick check of Google?

And yes that's what they are for. The CPU power for the motherboard

Power connector's for computers are all Keyed so it's pretty difficult to plug things in incorrectly

Yes.. and they will join together to form an 8 pin.
