I bought the Ryzen 7 3700X and and x570 motherboard. And its extremely overkill.

Get a Ryzen 5 the popular one everyone is getting, they are still ridiculously powerful, and a B450 motherboard or something a little newer 500 series.

Computers are a waste of money. But I wouldn't worry about it not being powerful enough with that setup. It will be cheaper and will last 5 years. I suspect you will be replacing the video card long before then anyway.

Personally would say, if you can afford it go for it, better overkill than underkill. But its not my money...

3900x is a good 50% step up for multi-threaded performance.

Power usage doesn’t drastically change, 70-100W vs 100-130W depending on load and clocks.

Unless you intend to run dual gpu’s or other thing then a recommended wattage is usually around the 500W range.
