Back to pop-up/advertising annoyances, I live in a bubble thanks to Ublock Origin and other defensive measures.

So I have been experimenting with Linux Mint in preparation for an eventual move away from Win 7. While downloading some tools I was shocked by the sheer volume of intrusive adds and site pop-ups that kept interrupting me. How do people cope with this stuff? I know: I immediately steered Firefox to the Ublock Origin extension, which also works on Linux, thank goodness. What a relief!

I accept that some sites add real value and must rely on advertising to keep going. But advertising interests have fouled their own nest by taking things way, way too far. If they don't like ad blockers, they have only themselves to blame. I am just grateful that ad blockers exist and I feel no guilt whatsoever for using them wherever I can.

I don't think this is a Ublock Origin thing.

I normally use Firefox on the PC with UbO enabled (with a few exceptions like GZ). If I disable UbO for a site the same thing happens, today it was finding cycle parts at wiggle. It's something I've noticed creep in lately, not sure when it started.

If I disable the add-on completely the same thing happens. Sometimes images appear other times they do not. Clearing cookies, closing and restarting browser makes no difference.

If I put the same address in other browsers, they seem show the images fine, some with UbO enbabled, some running absolutely stock with no add-ons. (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Vivaldi)

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.

thewarehouse.co.nz doesn't even have ads... but they use a bundle of third-party analy tics which any self respecting adblock should deflect.

it works for me in Firefox, with Ad Nauseam and uBlock Origin.

I even tested it with the dreaded μmatrix and discovered thewarehouse.co.nz is one of those few sites that works pretty well with every third party domain turned off. Nice! I should warn it's doubtful whether this extends to being able to buy things.

I think the problem is you are using two known problematic pieces of software. Chrome is/has been making changes which make adblocking harder to implement. And uBlock is not anywhere as good as uBlock Origin. uBlock Origin has more users, is updated more frequently and I suspect has more development effort going into it. I advocate switching to Mozilla Firefox & uBlock Origin, which is also available on firefox.
