Definitely local internet connections as initial system is single hop up to satellite and down to ground station.  However, once Starlink get their inter-satellite links working there is potential for service to locations without a local station, i.e. the Chatham Islands and the sub-antarctic islands.  This will be a revolution for those locations as well as for shipping offshore.

And an interesting real-world example. This has the potential to put a lot of the local WISPs out of business...

I got pricing info today - for my location in the Hawkes Bay:

Hardware: $799

Service: $159 / mo

Shipping & Handling: $ 114

Given the pricing mentioned in the other videos, it *could* be NZ Dollars, but I'd assume more that it's in USD.

It's apparently $499/$99 in the US, so the prices above are likely to be in NZD.

I think that's NZD. It will be very tempting even for users on rural ad/vdsl to cut the cord at that price. Keeping it will depend how it lasts over a daily cycle.
