jpoc:

I had a look on amazon today at a WD Blue 6TB drive.

Judging by the product description, I would be very worried.

The page headline was for a Blue drive but the product details were for a Red (SMR) drive.

What would you get if you ordered one from that page? Especially if the item was subject to amazon's co-mingling policy.

Obviously, as I am having trouble with my purchase from Amazon, I am not going to singing songs for them, but dozens of purchases from them (mother board, HDDs, Chromebook etc., as I used to get gift cards for them), I never have problem with wrong item been purchased or shipped, the parts number must be match in the end of the day, the description could be wrong as you found out, not big deal for me but the warranty might be an issue, but again if you are getting refurbished HDD's back as it is suggested here I don't think I've lost much by not having them.

PS: I've also found out you can actually connect Amazon about warranty issue, which I missed before: Amazon.com Help

Still puzzling about the noise level of the 10 TB ones as they seems much louder, never I noticed the NAS HDD is running, not as much often for sure.

Then I found this one from WD:

Basically the, 8TB and 10TB ones are actually 7200 Rpm but reported as 5400 rpm, and they are much much louder compare to the old 6TB ones, the 6 TB seeking noise level: 28 dBA (not in the screenshot), but the 10TB ones event when idle is much nosier than that at 34 dBA.

Sideface:

pstar008:  I replaced both 6TB RED plus with 10 TB RED plus and think that they much louder, or I am just imagining it?

Yes, the 10TB (and 12TB and 14TB) Red drives are slightly noisier than the 6TB drives - I have 8 x 10TB Reds running in a Synology NAS in my office, and I can only just hear it running.

NOTE:  The NAS is on soft silicone sound-absorbing feet, which make a big difference by decoupling vibration from the desktop.

Just wondering if anyone got round to RMAing a drive back to the US and things worked out.

I have an 8TB Seagate (not in a NAS) thats making dubious sounds but is warranted till the end of the year. I guess I would need to start an RMA and if accepted, spend lots on postage to send to them, they hopefully replace it with something (probably refurbished) and they are ok with sending it to Youshop, who charge lots of postage to send to me.

Just as a matter of interest (or not), I've now got two backups of the dubious drive mentioned above, and I tried getting Windows to repair said dubious drive, and it actually seems to have worked, so hopefully I'll be able to get a bit more use out of it.
