PDAMan:

Thanks folks, I'm going to have to come back to this in a couple of days.

Mauricio, I already had that selected but most of my files on Onedrive are data on my D Drive, particularly photos and videos, so I assume they don't have a footprint on C:

As to the suggestion of moving Band in a Box to D, or another partition, I thought programs had to run off C Drive. Has this changed?

Programs can be installed and run from wherever you want, granted that they aren’t hardcoded by an amateur developer.

Was going to ask if you were a linux user since what you’re attempting (adding space from another physical disk to a different partition) can be done with lvm, though it’s not always recommended to span logical volumes across physical media.

I would run though some of the advice in this thread to see what is taking space in your system drive, possibly move it around to your other drives to free it up.

Also worth checking if you have run Disk Clean-up on your C: Drive? Surprising how many old windows update files, temp files, direct x shader cache etc.. space can be cleaned up every so often.

Consider getting a new 1TB SSD, clone the contents of the 256GB disk to it and then use it instead.

It's not the cheap option, but it's not that expensive either.

Thanks for the suggestion re the SD drive, but it is for my laptop. I'm assume you can't have an external C Drive

I tried a tidy up, the problem is Band in a Box. With all the extras it added almost 130GB of data to my C:

I think the suggestion was to swap the drives after being cloned.

Have a look at this youtube video

How To: Uninstall, Migrate, and Reinstall Band-in-a-Box® on a New Computer (Win) - YouTube

Except in your case you are going to re-install to the same PC - BUT when you re-install, change the path ( as this video shows ) to one of your other drives

Thanks, everyone, got it sorted. Took forever but it is now running on D Drive and I have recovered 74GB on C:. We are all good. Really appreciate all the support.
