The Streamcam was returned as faulty. In Whatsapp and a couple of other apps the image regularly flickered and I got some static, whereas it worked perfectly in Teams and Zoom.

I purchased a Logitech C505 for $50, which is very similar to the old C270 I had that was failing. 720p, good mono microphone. It works perfectly in every video app, 720p is plenty for video calls, and the field of view is good at 60 degrees - slightly wider than the old C270 but not much. It's fixed focus, and things like white balance, not getting confused by bright backgrounds, etc, are all significantly inferior to the Streamcam and Brio 500, but for me it's exactly what I need. If Logitech did a Brio 500 with a native 60 - 65 degree field of view I might upgrade, but the C505 will probably work for a decade just like the C270 did.

So in summary we have a winner: the Logitech C505!
