Just remembered my UPS has software.....  think it has the server, NAS, and network gear all plugged in at the moment.

Thats actually a lot. I have a couple of devices in my garage hooked up to a battery which is only powered/charged during the day as we have solar, the Windows PC is unfortunately not one of them as its runs straight off mains power. Might be time to rethink this.

I'm running a late 2014 i5 Mac Mini (running Ubuntu Server) for everything (HomeAssistant, Frigate, Jellyfin, and more), and would also be interested to run some power consumption metrics on it.

These Mac-minis run ultra-low power consumption CPUs and Memory, no fans I can hear, and claim to only use 5W at idle and a max of 80W, so would be really interested to know how much real power usage it uses, considering it never seems to stutter.

I had purchased a Tlink Tapo for $25.

Then again... it's just a gadget as it'll never be able to save me $25 on power. :D

Metrics are invaluable! Seeing your power draw makes you aware, and you can drop it, hence lowering your power bill! Butterfly effect my friend!

Upgrading to W11 from W10 seems to increase power consumption by an additional 5-7%. Interesting.

Hmmm so low. Maybe I should see if I should install Open Media Vault.

Be aware, this is NOT a PC or x86 based installation and represents in terms of drive storage a very minimalistic approach (single SSD, no RAID, no ECC) but fan less and with plenty CPU performance for what it is designed for. You can reach your goal with two drives and with this kit.

I gathered that I might as well upgrade before the support finished with Microsoft.

I hardly use the machine anyway as it's only served as a file server.
