And was your amazon password before this a unique one that was used nowhere else? Is the email address on amazon unique to amazon or something used on other sites that have suffered breaches. Have you checked on haveibeenpwned.com for your email address in any breaches?

Honestly, it's been years since I logged onto Amazon until the weekend, so I wouldn't have a clue what my PW was there. It's very likely it was something I was/am using elsewhere, but the one I changed it to this morning is something I have never used anywhere.

Checking that website it looks like I've been pwned twice, one from Canva in May 2019, and Slickwraps in Feb 2020 (Google tells me it's a custom skins/wraps for phones etc). I don't remember using slickwraps at all, but yes have used Canva.

I think my best bet, is once my current Amazon order goes through (Still 3-4 weeks away from shipping). I'm going to remove all my card details from it, and just open a brand new account using a brand new email, probably the best bet?

Yeah, there's nothing that really says "Click here to fix the problem". Just Amazon.com at the bottom of the email, along with a link to the "Security and privacy" page.

Again, it's bizarre. Because manually going to Amazon, I have actually been logged out, well I was this morning.

Just because it says Amazon.com doesn't mean that's the hyperlink, that's just the text they turned into the hyperlink.  You need to copy the hyperlink text and paste it into notepad to see what the full address is and to know if it's legit or not.

THis is so true - always hover over the hyperlink with the mouse to see what it might actually be directing to, if you can. Obviously harder to to on mobile

Problem we have at work is they are all obfuscated with the thing that scans them before they open so hovering does nothing, then you get ones like PB who redirect thru all sorts of things that get blocked because of spam so you can't even open their links in email.

Best to just visit the site yourself if you get an email suggesting that there is something to do with it needing your attention.

Doesn't work for idiot places like gem visa who will send you urgent sounding spammy SMS to verify transactions and then when you go and log in to their portal there is nothing at all in there about it. Cost me 20c to reply to them with STOP which didnt seem to work too.
