They have to pay for this somehow..
You use Microsoft s/w? 😁
- NET: FTTH, OPNsense, 10G backbone, GWN APs, ipPBX
- SRV: 12 RU HA server cluster, 0.1 PB storage on premise
- IoT: thread, zigbee, tasmota, BidCoS, LoRa, WX suite, IR
- 3D: two 3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC router, laser cutter

So tried the cancel subscription trick and the copilot version is cheaper?
I think I've seen this before. The $160 was what you paid at your last renewal, it will increase to the $229/yr for a family at your next renewal if you include copilot.
Great thread. My M365 family plan is due for renewal next month. Managed to switch to the $50 cheaper a year "classic" option, but (as others have said) my particular route was different than the Consumer instructions - for me Manage my Account > Do not auto renew was the trick to getting the classic / $179 per year family option to surface.

My Office 365 Personal is prepaid until 2028 at which time I most likely will have no use for it and will use an open source version if I can find an email client that works on Hotmail and Outlook.com correctly.
I switched to using Thunderbird which does work with Outlook.com fine. YMMV

It works so so if you add the OWL plugin at $15Us per year . Still not too good with email contact lists as may members can be missing.

This was all covered in the existing thread last month at https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=77&topicid=317770&page_no=1#3318994 but if you missed it, Consumer. published how to avoid paying for Copilot.
https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/you-don-t-have-to-pay-the-microsoft-365-price-increase
I couldn't find this article on the consumer site without this direct link. Their new site is very poor for usability and is dumbed down and my family does subscribe to it

Also the Rot Economy, where everything is extractive. From you.

yes the link works, but Consumer have no link nor do they mention it on their homepage
Just tried Microsoft chat re no CoPilot on my (Multi) subscription, just kept getting the "benefits" of something I don't want an extra charge for rammed down my throat!
So Chat method definitely doesn't work!
Currently $179 for Familly at PBTech.
Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I see AU $149 when I add Microsoft 365 Family to my cart on Amazon AU, which is roughly NZ$ 165. It's also a digital download, so no postage.
