In that case I have to ask, HOW did you get a new one at that price!?!?! I think I bought that 3090 for like 4000$ maybe 4 years ago.

But yes, I had plenty of facebook offers for "max 1k" but I was hoping I could get 1300 for it on TM, wasn't expecting 1500.

Computer Lounge Black Friday sale

That's fascinating because my research on PriceSpy lead me to believe that high-end graphics-cards are one of those areas that aren't affected by Black Friday sales, they seemed to just stay at their price until the next generation comes out. This makes me very nervous that I should have waited before buying my 5090 for an obscene amount of money

I think the timing was just good..The 4000 series had been released, the Covid era GPU shortages were over and the whole AI/LLM GPU craze hadn't kicked in so they were clearing 3000 series stock.

You can usually get 5-10% off on black fridays on certain models like PNY, Palit or lower model Gigabytes. Asus etc generally don’t or are already marked up too high.

Just remember the value kept for the high end cards is due to the AI demand for vram. It doesn’t apply to lower vram cards, and will also stop once AI demands shifts to specialised hardware.

Yeah that's a good point, even my 32gb 5090 still isn't enough VRAM to hold a good video AI model, so with that demand it makes sense that someone will start making affordable >60gb cards very soon but gamers will have no need for so much VRAM so it will likely become 2 completely different categories of cards.
