I've also heard of people who have accidentally started using OneDrive (through Microsoft's dark patterns in Windows), then been nagged about running out of space in OneDrive, so have deleted their files from OneDrive in order to reduce their usage, and finally discovered that OneDrive had deleted their local copy. So they lost their data, all because Microsoft pushes a tool which people don't understand.
