That being the case it suggests that either the power supply is faulty or the motherboard is not correctly signaling the power supply. Either way I do not see how it could be a bios or OS issue. You don't by chance have a different power supply you could use as a test?

Thank you for you kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, we suggest you can first Load Optimized Default BIOS setting and try to test again. We also suggest you can try to test your system in a simple environment :
Please remove such as add-on cards, devices from motherboard, only install CPU, single memory, single HDD, VGA card and power, and make sure the components on the motherboard are installed properly. If there's nothing wrong in simple environment, try to install several additional cards into the slot one by one to observe the result again and again.
Meanwhile, you can try to test different Power supply or test your power supply in another system to verify the root cause. However, if the problem still occurs, a further testing or examination might be required. Since we are not possible to get your product, we suggest you to contact your supplier (where you purchased your product) and see if they can test your system directly.
At last, if you still have any further question or suggestion about our products/service, please do not hesitate to contact with us. We will try our best to help you resolve the problem ASAP.

Looks like I'll try that and see what happens, may have to take it into Computer Lounge.
Had this happen ages back when I had a firewire cable in the computer to something else which I cant recall what it was, basically power was backfeeding up the cable to some 12v devices.
OK, so I have tried Gigabytes suggestions and I am certain its either the PSU or mobo. Finding out which isn't going to be easy in my case. Unfortunately if I send it into CL and the product isn't faulty, I get charged at least $80 :L

Ok guys, yesterday I had a go at fixing this thing. As I said, tried everything that Gigabyte said. Nothing. So I took it back to my desk, plugged everything in as usual and continued to use it. I posted my previous message.
Then, at about 3am, when I went to bed, I shut down like normal. Then something seemed odd, the fans turned off???? So I booted it up again, and the shut down just to check and yep, they seemed to shut down.
I don't want to temp fate to much as I don't know what the problem was, and I don't know how I fixed it :L but at the moment all is well. Thanks for all your great replies, they really did help, and I'll make sure I post back if it started again (touch wood!).
