Changeover: Hi

I'm building a new computer (first time) and have put it together and everything seems to be working ok. However, when installing Windows 10 from a USB stick the Seagate HDD and the Crucial SSD can't be found by Windows. Also the Bios shows that the two inputs (0 and 1) are empty. The motherboard is the Gigabyte B150M-D3H.

I don't know how to solve this problem.

Im going to ask that question but when you plugged in the SATA cable did you plug in the power cables into the HDD and SSD from the power supply?

Does the hard drive make a spinning sound at any point?

Does the board need drivers installed for it to operate? Some boards have additional sata ports that are not part of the chipset so dont show as standard ahci ones.

Or is the motherboard set to raid mode and not ahci? That will often need drivers too.

I did read somethign about one of the new chipsets needing drivers at the stage of installation that you choose the drive too.

I did make that stupid mistake but now they are pluged in and i still have the problem.

If it's still not showing up in the BIOS then it is likely to be a cabling or hardware issue.

Just double check your wiring and that the plugs look to be seated into the socket ok.
I doubt it will be software as I find it hard to believe that they would ship a BIOS that could not see the connected disks.

Also did you change any of the default SATA settings in the BIOS? This could do it.

The manual tells you what the default settings are.

Yes both cables in. Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H. Also has LGA 1151 printed on box

Sorted problem. Had drives pluged into Sata Express port. Changed to standard ones and I'm up and running.

don't most sata express ports double as sata ports?
