darylblake: I rekon you just slow down a little more credible info will be out in the next couple of days. I got a mate who has picked up 2 of these cards today. I'll get him to install the latest driver and run some benches over the next day or two and one with a crossfire. And I'll let you know when I know. I am guessing it's very close to the GTX980. Slightly better than the GTX970.

All the review sites should have their reviews up tonight. I enjoy when new cards are launched, I get to watch all the fan boys fight over which card is better. I just buy which ever card gives me the best bang for my buck.

Indeed, AMD users will probably go on about how its faster than a 1080 in multi-GPU, nVidia users will go on about how fast their card is as a single card and destroys the AMD card and both sets will forget that all the cards are targeted at different price points and market segments (unless the RX480 is the same price as a 1070, or that the 1060 is as fast as the RX480 and the same price).

Personally for me, I can't justify an 1070 or higher purchase, but an RX480 might fit the budget and general performance requirements; my wallet always wins and not ultimate performance!

There is no arguing that bang for buck this is probably a great card. And the DX12 performance supposedly has an edge over the nvidia card options that compare at the same dx11 level.

What I want to know is at the $1000-$1200 budget

Do i get 2x RX480's in crossfire,

1x 1080

or 1x 1070.

From what i have read the this card is more towards the 970. Im very interested in one. What im trying to find out is what the 480 is like in crossfire.

For me, I need to see what the GTX1060 does, but I suspect they won't get close to the 480. I only game at 1080p as I use remote streamers due to not having a spare location for a PC in the house now (kids taketh things away like the man cave :-( ), so I'm only really looking at how the cards perform in DX12 at 1080p.

I don't think the 1070 warrants a purchase as its geared at higher resolutions or VR which I'm not ready to go down yet.

Is $499 NZD a reasonable price for this card? :/ I feel like it could be cheaper...

Also would this card work on a 500W PSU? Specifically the Xigmatek NRP-PC502. I might want to replace a GTS 450 with this card.

The card uses about 150W under load. If its a good quality PSU certified 80% + (that includes bronze/silver/gold+) then yeh probably will be fine. If its an old non 80% certified PSU, then it depends how many other components you have as well the only real way to know is to go and use a calculator like this one:

if your PSU can deliver 80% of its rated capacity then you can deliver 400W with no issues what so ever, so it probably will be fine.

It's the normal over priced launch in NZ, the RRP for the 8GB card is $449NZD according to the AMD Aus/NZ press release. this still works out about $75 over an import.

On another note, it looks like a few of the reviewers are reporting some power issues with the PCIe slot power draw.

Sapphire have announced the RX480 NITRO which should address the power issues with the 8 pin power socket. It will be interesting to see what other manufacturers do in this space.

1060 is supposed to be marginally faster and a little more expensive.
Roughly
Gtx 980 == 1060
Gtx 970 == rx480

But the price seems to reflect that.
