Which one I'd choose? Claw (Highest ratio of Performance:Dollar of the lot)

Value for money would be the trademe PC - IF: if doesn't break, because I don't know what the aftersales service would be like. It has no OS but I could give you a windows 7 key. It's more cumbersome. Computer lounge is hassle free.

If I value hassle free I'd go computerlounge (remember to add the 2TB HDD, 256GB is not enough). If i really need the few hundred quid and don't mind the hassle the trademe PC is a very similar PC once you get the OS installed.

if it helps, the most important thing you want to make sure is the CPU. 6600K >> 6600 > 6500 >> 6400

Next most important thing for someone who can't DIY is to install the OS on a SSD.

the rest are all very easy to DIY add or subtract including non OS drives.

Of all the options given, the least important (for your hurting head to worry about) is the GPU. as long as it starts with a 10xx.

http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentlist.asp?parttypeid=807

these are all at 20% off and they are better than the ones you have listed

but the sale ends tonight at 1159.

I don't know what kind of sale they had but the prices are all exactly the same today.

I suggest the OP ring up and ask for a 20% discount on the Ghost or the Claw.

Jase2985:

it was in their news letter and on the home page, like i said it ended yesterday at 1159pm

Like i said, no way of getting the 20% applied yesterday. the actual wording was up to 20%. how does anyone know what the discount for any prebuilt system was. is it 20%, 10%

I posted on their facebook page also a day or so ago to ask for clarification about the discount but I got no reply.

So @joker97 I was looking at the trademe listings that you posted and if I got this one with an extra 8gb of ram and a 250gb SSD for $200 more, would it be a good deal and a decent editing rig?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/desktops/no-monitor/auction-1225278773.htm

I'm also based in Invercargill so whoever I purchase off I'd expect after sales service to be much the same.

Yes that will work very well. What is the SSD brand?, not all SSDs have the same speed, but they're all much much faster than HDD.

Oh you asked is it a good deal, it's about 10% discount. Just make sure they test everything works before sending.

They replied:

Apacer. Another $60 for samsung 850 evo

Do you think it would be a good set up for editing for the price with the add ons?

Thanks

not sure if you realise your cost is coming up to just under $1500.

the one I linked to you is just under $1300 - ask for their store website and if you contact them outside trademe ask for an 8% discount on $1299 (because that's what trademe charges in fees), or ask for upgrade to 16GB ram, 2TB hdd and see how you go. be aware that margins are extremely tight.
