jamesrt: Point being I've not got it yet; still on 1909 [or whatever it's called].

Maybe in 2021, Microsoft will make the 2020 version available to me...

Edit: Pretty sure my computer falls into this category (from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-nz/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004):

Errors or issues during or after updating devices with Conexant ISST audio drivers
Devices with affected Conexant ISST audio drivers might receive an error or have issues with Windows 10, version 2004.

I'd rather have a stable device than one which crashes all the time; but I'm surprised it's taking 9+ months to investigate/resolve an audio driver issue for a major chipset - how hard could it be?  (Answer: Hard, obviously, because of the time it's taken, but why??)

Dratsab:

msukiwi: 28 minutes from start of original reboot to everything running again.

Ouch! 3m 04s here - from hitting download to being able to log back in.

Timing depends on how up-to-date your current machine is. Microsoft has been delivering "inactive" bits with the previous updates and only using a flag to turn these on when the new 20H2 is "installed".

I unboxed a Surface Laptop Go a couple of days ago. Installed a load of updates out of the box. After a reboot it offered the 20H2 and I decided to install that straight away. It only required a reboot and less than 90 seconds later it was on the new version.

It was quick for me too, so seems like it was indeed getting 'inactive' updates.

Similar. Five minutes each for download and install and restart. +five minutes for profiles logon. +five minutes for Store update.

Updated to 20H2 on a Lenovo laptop, no subsequent problems.

Updated on dell all-in-one and graphics iffy until further update applied, then seemed OK UNTIL I clicked Start and the Tiles were all over the place ... odd ones there and 90% missing!

Just did my pc. Only took 8 minutes.

Everything seems to be working. Only real difference I can see is the fancy coloured icons on start menu.

Looks like I have to add NZ dictionary to Edge, didn't like the "u" in coloured.😀

Update:  The Dell wouldn't play nice with updates, including unable to set App defaults by file type, so pictures (jpg's etc) all wanted to open in Paint 3D.

Lots of other stuff very odd or not working so rolled-back to 1909 ... not sure if it's hardware (only 4 years old) or what.  The laptop is still fine though 😬

The icons and text on my 2k monitors seem easier to read after the update. Other than that I'm wondering if the update has tweaked the refresh rate slightly on my multi-monitor system. It feels easier to look at. I have a feeling the previous rate was 59.9 HZ and now it's 60 HZ. Can't be sure it's been a long time since the original setup. It could also be a minor tweak to scaling or something like that.

Updated an older dell machine no issues - it still plays Netflix ; ).

rb99:

Probably shouldn't worry too much. Can see why they stopped the big new Windows announcements otherwise what would it be this time - semi transparent icons for the windows menu and something to do with Edge tabs ? Maybe we'll get something useful, like a tabbed or dual pane Explorer by the end of the decade...

I've given up hope that a tabbed explorer will ever happen natively.

Instead, I've been using Clover for years and love it.

I've been using the free version of xplorer2 for many years. I have side by side views. So much easier for copying/moving files.

Coincidentally - my oldest machine updated from 1903 to 1909 today. That's a pleasant surprise.

Found out this occurred because 1903 is end of service this month. 1909 will be end of service in five months - based on that I'll expect 2004 on this machine in five months.
