Twalknz72: Ok so if y'all had up to 4k to build a gaming machine from scratch, monitor, keyboard, mouse the lot. You have to have at least 3TB of storage and at least 2TB of it has to be fast like m.2 fast or better. You won't be able to upgrade for 2 years. What would you build and where from please.

4K is in the territory where its worthwhile considering a pre-built from a place like Computer Lounge. No hassle & the warranty will all be from the same place.

I would build something similar in specs of the "The phantom" Prebuilt from godmode.co.nz, But I prefer AirCooled and No RGB myself. Would adjust it with a 3080 and 32GB ram

https://www.godmode.co.nz/products/the-phantom?variant=39382995697779

If I had to source all parts from single vendor 🙁, I would pick from Computer Lounge, or PBtech.

you will not notice the difference between a standard SATA SSD and a NVME (m.2) when gaming, so dont get hung up on that.

Go to one of the bigger PC stores, look for a PC worth about $3400 add your extra storage, find a Monitor Keyboard and mouse. and your done.

I would aim for 1440p at high frame rates at that price range.

That was interesting, the YouTube. If the SATA are on par with the m.2 then getting 4TB might be a thought.

They’re not quite on par, there will be a future feature called DirectStorage that will use the speed but at this point no games use it so it wouldn’t be relevant in deciding.

Sata ssd’s aren’t always cheaper, they are however easier to install as there are less m2 slots with full lanes available on most motherboards. Do check pricing between m2/sata and if you have available slots to install to.

Personally I’d recommend something like the Playtech Assassin Gold and then add another 2x 1TB or 2TB ssd’s and anything else you’d need. It doesn’t have to be from playtech, take the specifications and find/purchase from another vendor if it is cheaper.

Ryzen 5600x/5700/5800x cpu
2x8GB (16GB) ddr4 3600 CL16 ram
X570/b550 motherboard
Nvidia rtx 3070
500GB/1TB m.2 OS SSD + additional storage (later)
850W power supply (corsair rm850x or equivalent)
1440p 144Hz or higher monitor (LG 27gp850 or equivalent)

I was looking at playtech and this looks good except for the minimal storage

https://playtech.co.nz/collections/mythic-series/products/playtech-hydra-gaming-pc#anchor-description

I'm not able to tell if there are any USB ports or headphones connections on the front. I don't have any issue with AMD I'm just really struggling the computer language but I do have some familiarity with Intel, kinda. I don't think this comes with a monitor or anything though.

Would appreciate any thoughts. Oh and how do you add/ swap the HD with this prebuild? I did all that over email for the other computer using PBTech

Maybe this monitor?

shows what it has there.

FYI that case will be average for airflow for keeping things cool

Thats a 24in screen when the brother has a 28in one, happy to deal with that? better to look for a 27in one. and if your running a Nvidia graphics card look for a G-sync monitor.

Playtech have a custom PC builder here: https://playtech.co.nz/collections/customizable-pc-systems

The hydra is a good spec. Do note that it’s not a full 12 core cpu, 4 cores are efficiency cores designed for less demanding tasks, the other 8 performance cores are what you’d use for gaming etc.

You might need to run something like process lasso or update the OS to windows 11 to make sure demanding tasks use the right cores. (There are some reports that things occasionally get stuck on the e-cores)

Playtech would have a service email you could contact for additional requests like adding more storage to an order. Otherwise have a look at their pc builder and see if you can add more via that.

There are two usb A and one usb C ports on the case along with 3.5mm headphone/microphone jacks.

The monitor you’ve linked is Full HD (i.e. 1080p) and will look a bit more blocky/pixelated compared to the existing 4k monitor, is has 1/4 the number of pixels but will look far smoother due to it’s refresh rate.

If you intend to use the 4k screen on the new pc and this one on the old machine then that would work. Otherwise do look at available 1440p 144Hz screens as a better fit. Pbtech has a wider range, playtech don’t seem to sell many monitors nowadays. Pricespy can list a bunch more options if you filter through their site.

Ok do after doing some more research I think I'm looking at either the Intel or AMD benchmark stage 2 https://www.computerlounge.co.nz/gaming/benchmark-series#489

I don't know enough about motherboards and chips to see a difference but I do notice one has a better graphics card than the other. I am also aware if a price difference between the two. If you were going to buy one or the other which would it be and why? What differences in usage would there be please?
Thank you all again.

Either is fine. The X570 is better but runs hotter with AMD. B550 is fine but older. The intel comes with a 3070 where the AMD comes with a 3080. I'd go AMD, its a good solid gaming PC. The Intel costs more, has better chipset and ram speeds but that CPU runs hot. Plus its a 3070...

Either way, you won't really notice for gaming.

So if we're sticking with computer lounge and looking for a monitor not more than 30"(prefer 25") and under $500ish what would be the best choices? This I'm struggling with considering refresh rates, 4k vs HD. Looking to get this ordered by the end of the month with luck.
Thank y'all again helping this, out of her depth, mum.

Note graphics cards are currently dropping in price, e.g. Find the best price on Asus GeForce RTX 3080 Ti TUF Gaming OC 2xHDMI 3xDP 12GB | Compare deals on PriceSpy NZ so might be affecting what kinds of deals you can get compared to a couple of months ago.
