macuser: First 1070 pricing out from.PB
$899 for EVGA founders edition
Playtech and CLounge have them listed as well now, at $999 (Asus) and $899 (EVGA) respectively.
Got this email from MightyApe regarding Asus Strix GTX1080
Hi there,
Thanks for pre-ordering your STRIX GTX 1080 off us!
I am glad to announce we finally have a price for this amazing graphics card. It will be listed at $1499!
I have blocked your order temporarily, awaiting your response to the pricing update.
Sadly I can confirm that you are not one of the very few receiving stock day one as there is a severe stock shortage across NZ at the moment. More will be coming in slowly over the next week before we get a steady supply.
I will do my best to keep you up to date with the stock issues for this big new release.
Kind regards,
Andy Lee

Same price as PBTech, this price gouging is disgusting, I guess I'll have to import it or wait a month or two.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

How much better is the strix? For $100 more? Is it cooler? Or allow better overclocking? I take it that it is quieter than the founders one?

Strix series cards from Asus are usually better than the stock form of the same GPU (and I class the Flounders Edition as just that stock)
Strix vs Flounders

Is that a price increase on what you preordered it for? If so complain about them not honouring their price guarantee.
Nah, I preordered it at $0.00 because they didn't know the price either.
Anyway the point is this card is supposed to be cheaper than Founder's Edition (I believe its $659 USD vs $699USD), but the NZ stores are selling it for $100 more than the Founder's Edition card, not to mention the significant markup we're already getting on the Founder's Edition cards.

And NZ stores are the first to complain when people buy from amazon :)
darylblake: Yeh I know. They out of stock but same as the reference card. http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-5180-KR Only want $609 USD. Dunno what it would cost to import though.
I might import if I can get a GTX 1080 for roughly the same as I can get a 1070 here!
I'm keeping an eye on the Australian pricing\stock too as I'm heading over there early next month. Aus retail price - 10% gst (claim back when you leave the country) + no import duty (or shipping costs) could make a decent difference.

Will cost about $1100 after tax and shipping etc.
