Hoping somebody can guide me in the right direction here, been trying to rebuild my desktop and finally got the motherboard to boot and get into the bios. However now I can't it to boot from the CD to install windows. On a side note I have installed 4x4 Gb ram and wondering if x64bit OS is the right way to go? Cheers Stan

Without knowing what error message you are getting it is hard to say.

I would suggest changing the bios boot sequence so the the first boot drive is the CD and second is the hard drive.

A 32 bit OS only recognizes approximately 3.2 GB of RAM so with 16 GB you must use a 64 bit OS.

You should either change the boot order in the BIOS or hit a function key when booting to change the boot device at that time.

If the boot order is changed and a bootable CD is present some BIOS will show a message on screen on the lines of "Press any key to boot from CD" otherwise it will go looking for the HDD.

Thanks guys, after all that worked backwards and found the iso wasnt working. reburnt and im sorted.

Just BTW, I had an experience a couple of years back where I tried to flash a BIOS firmware update and it just locked up frozen. Couldn't boot, get in to the BIOS, couldn't roll back firmware version, couldn't anything. Eventually it was discovered that if a pair of RAM cards was removed, everything worked sweetly - able to update the BIOS, then put the full RAM complement back in in.
