I started a thread earlier this year, but it was mainly in regards to ATI cards..

I've since decided that nVidia is the way to go, since people keep telling me they're more supported.

Does anyone know a relatively cheap [~250-300) (and newish) card that will with OOB with Mac OS X Lion/ML.

The components page which on the OSX hackintosh forum is mediocre at best to navigate and I don't think it'd be that up to date.

Anyone had experience or know of a decent card? (MUST support dual monitors etc.)

I'm using a GTX 560 Ti in 10.7.4... BUT it doesn't work in ML (yet?). Apparently the 600 series works in ML and in 10.7.5 but I'm not sure about 10.7.4.

If I get time tonight I'll connect my TV to the second port on my 560 and see whether I can use both displays.

Thanks for the reply - the 560 is heading out of my budget, but let me know if it works, and if I find that there isn't the type of card I want available, the 560 might be the next best thing.

That'll teach me to not look and see how much those cards are going for these days; thought it'd be cheaper by now :)

Using an older 9600GT myself (works OOB for lion).

I checked http://tonymacx86.blogspot.co.nz/search/label/CustoMac before buying any of my kit and it all works out of the box. They have a pretty good list of supported cards.

Even have Bluetooth working for my magic trackpad and wireless keyboard using a cheap DSE usb dongle :-)

Hmmm, was hoping for something newer, but I have heard some good things about that card. So it's starting to sound pretty good.....!

I knew there was something I meant to do... I did test it but forgot to post back. It didn't work; no video on the second port (even after a reboot) :(

Awh damn :( I saw a 570 for sale, and thought I may just go all out if it works.

Cant find too much information on it, so I will keep my $400.

Thanks for testing!

I had a GT 440 card which worked perfectly with 10.6.8. You can pick them up new for ~$120.

Was that just using the drivers from the nvidia site?

I wasn't aware nvidia had drivers, that was with the native drives in OS X.

There are drivers on the nVidia site; I'm using them with my 560 (otherwise it caps at 1024x768). 10.8 seems to include these drivers "in the box" but as noted above I've had no luck with making the card actually work in 10.8 so there must be another trick to it!
