Hey ppl

I have an issue that I usually get past but with a HUGE amount of pissing around.

I have a Windows 7 x64 Machine that has a Brother DCP-165c printer on it, that is shared across the network. One of the computers on the network is a Windows Vista 32bit machine.

I need to share the printer onto the vista machine, so that it can print. However when I attempt to add a network printer on the vista machine it comes back with unable to find the Driver or that the Win7 machine does not have a compatible driver for the vista machine.

I have downloaded the Vista Printer drivers onto the vista machine and tried to install them however because I cant physically plug the printer into the vista machine it fails installation.

Does anyone know an easy way around this without grabbing the printer, physically taking it through to the vista machine plugging it in and installing to the driver so it will find it to use it across the network?

On the Windows 7 machine that the printer is shared on add the driver on there.
Go to the Sharing tab and click on Additional Drivers and select the x86 box, you will then be asked to browse to the folder where you have downloaded the driver.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

I have the same problem with RDP printing when I remote home from work. Work is still all 32 bit and home is all 64. Its worse with RDP since you cant install drivers at all as the printer isnt there to update driver on.
