i realize they're pretty much the same browser though don't understand the technicalities of it all ?- i'm still?mystified?as to how this happened though. ?

anywayz - i downloaded Iron a couple of weeks ago due to an issue i was having with Chrome in a game i play. ?it wasn't until i d/l Iron i realized it was the same browser by a different name but all the issues i had in the game i play disappeared so i decided to keep Iron as my default browser. ?except for that one small gaming issue, i did love the Chrome browser so set up Iron with pretty much all the same?extensions, same theme and mostly the same bookmarks.

i then uninstalled and?re-installed?Chrome out of curiosity to see if maybe that's all i'd needed to do in the first place to resolve the game issue, but that didn't work ... still had the issue. ?so i left that browser exactly as it came out of the box ... no added?extensions, theme, bookmarks - just left it as a spare browser should i ever need it one day.?

ff a couple of weeks to today and i log online (with Iron) and the browser settings have reverted to my old Chrome browser settings. ?settings i don't even have on the newly re-installed Chrome browswer. ?the other thing i noticed is i'm logged back into google - something i haven't been able to do since i started using Iron as i couldn't recall my user handle. ?

finally my game still works fine with this ... newly reformatted ... Iron browswer so perhaps this wont be a problem - but i really don't like my comp doing stuff when i've no idea how or why. ?anyone know?

Are your iron and chrome installations using the same cache location? where cookies etc are stored.

Btw, what is the game?

the game was farm town, lol.

how do i check where cookies for each browser are stored? my OS is xp pro.

i just found how to log out of google and now the bookmarks on my bookmark bar have doubled, those i added manually to iron + all those i had on chrome.  weird.  the bookmarks in the folder haven't changed.

The default location is: Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache

Chrome does not have an option to view or change this location in the chrome settings. Maybe Iron is using the same settings.

It is possible your game worked under Iron if Iron does not use the built in version of flash like Chrome does. In

In Chrome the built in version can be disabled after typing chrome://plugins/ in the address bar to view the settings. Apparently there are two flash plugins there the built in one and the external one. Your game might work with chrome if you disable the built in one.

I'm not on windows and I use only the internal flash version on chrome so i'm not sure what that looks like on windows.

yes it was a flash update in chrome that kicked off the game issues.  and it does seem iron and chrome share cache storage.

i've narrowed down my particular problem to getting logged into google somehow.  hopefully it's fixed now and won't happen again.  thanks for your answers. :)
