If I have on board USB 3.0 sockets & a compatible 3.0 External HDD, do I still need to use both connectors to power?

Enclosure came with both a USB 3.0 plug (blue) and a secondary (white) one.

I would expect I do, but would just like to confirm.

Cheers.

Maybe, it depends if the motherboard has per port PTC overload protection and how much power the drive takes.

If you try it without and the drive just ticks etc then whack the second one in. As USB 3 allows more power it should be sweet as tho.

Thanks. I will take a look at that.
