Ive been looking for a cloud solution recently and Crashplan appears to have several recommendations on here so I took a look at the site.

They are currently offering a 12 month plan at a 96% discount....yes thats ninety-six ! A year of backups for 2-10 machines is currently USD7.20.

I have tried to sign up but the site still loads the total as $150.

So if the price is US based only.

The FAQ says:

Who is eligible?Discounts are available worldwide. People who are not already or ever have been CrashPlan+ customers

Perfect, I didn't think to read the FAQ !

I've sent them a tweet to see what's going on because it only gives me full price.

You could probably try signing up with a different email address.

Yeah, I just found the same thing but am getting same behaviour as the OP - add to cart and it seems to load the full price

You folks SHOULD NOT use the Crashplan when using a VPN. When you create your backup Crashplan will use either their US datacentre or their new AU datacentre. Uploads to AU are a lot faster than uploads to the US.

Having said that please use this aff link to sign up for Crashplan ;)

Hmmm... Is their code to detect timezone screwing up?

"On Friday, Nov. 23 at 6:00AM CST, CrashPlan 1-year plans will be FREE. Every two hours after that, the price will steadily increase "

But the current CST time is:

"Current time in Mexico City
Thursday, 22 November 2012 at 3:43:49 PM CST"

I'm using unblock-us (though not a VPN) and all my backups default to Australia

But thats not the special

Is the special a code or a link? If a code then use our link, if it's a link then use theirs ;)

Yeah exactly, supposed to be the 23rd at 6am CST time - which i worked out is 1am the 24th for us.

Sucks that it's new customers only - I'm coming to the end of my 1 yr subscription so looking to renew, was hoping I'd be able to do it .
