I got a few new components to stick inside an old case for my girlfriend to use:

Foxconn 661FX7MI-S Motherboard
Intel Celeron D 347 3.06GHz CPU
512MB PC3200 RAM

I put it all together, and on pushing the power button, all I got was the CPU fan spinning, no video, no POST beeps, nothing!

I took it all back out of the case, unplugged all the components, left just RAM and CPU, still nothing.

Sent it all back, turns out the motherboard was faulty, got a tested replacement, other components tested too, still havin the same problem.

Any ideas?

Are you CERTAIN that your CPU is supported by this particular motherboard?

I had exactly the same problem with a 533MHz FSB mobo that was supposed to work with a P4 3.06GHz.  But no way could we get it to work.  Put original CPU back in and all was OK.

Obviously the CPU was not compatible with the board and all we got was fan spinning, nothing else, same as you.

Not much you can do except try a different type of CPU which you know is DEFINITELY supported.

It looks like that might be the problem, I had just assumed it was supported when I bought it because it said Pentium 4/Celeron D with the LGA775 socket. And seeing as the online shop said they tested it all, I assumed they had tested it all together, but maybe not.

The Celeron D 347 is not on the list of supported CPU's for that motherboard, so now I need to buy a new chip and sell this one :)

Thanks for your help
