Why is it so hard to add pictures and get them to go where you want is ms word. It sucks and is an absolute unnecessarily complicated pain in the a**. All I want to do is add a picture but no they make you choose one of their text wrapping settings which no one knows what the heck they mean and when you try move the picture around it moves the text all over the place/puts half the picture of the screen/ looses the picture all together/stuffs up the order of all the other pictures you have already put in. Why so hard? Aghh!

Agreed, it is a POS in this regard. You really need a program designed for page layout like MS Publisher, or Adobe InDesign.

I agree with you, however word 2013 is better than 2010. I say better it has not fixed it.
You may want to try publisher. I have had to do that in the past to get it right, then save it as  PDF.

I know enough to be dangerous

It sounds like you're trying to use a word processor with limited image capabilities as a page layout/publishing tool.

Don't blame the tools.

What do you know I have publisher, never used it, didn't know I had it. Will give it a try. I am using office 2007. Although publisher does not seem perfect for writing reports with lots of pictures. They don't have templates for reports.

FWIW Word 2013 is much better about this photo text layout than older versions

Its pretty simple

1) Insert picture
2) Change picture wrapping to 'Tight'
3) Drag picture anywhere - text will wrap around / avoid it.

I always use the 'top and bottom' but same diff.  I find that once you make a text wrapping selection the properties of the picture appears to change and suddenly it behaves.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
