Ok, so last week my computer security (Red Shield) flashed up and said my virus protection was out of date. I thought this was weird becuse I have Panda Cloud antivirus.
Anyway I chose to download AVG free as I've had it before.... BIG MISTAKE! turns out that what I downloaded was only a 29 day trial version and to top it all off if downloaded an AVG search browser (I didn't ask it to do that) - so now every time I open a new tab in Google Chrome it comes up with AVG search.
Previously when I opened a new tab it had 4 big icons at the bottom under the search bar g-mail, google, you-tube.... this has disappeared

So - how do i get it back?
I've uninstalled AVG completely and gone into my google chrome settings and deleted AVG search browser from the list and have saved - but every time I go to open a new tab in chrome the AVG search browser opens and not the google chrome one with g-mail, google, you-tube.... under the search bar.

if anyone knows how I can get my new tabs to open up as they did before I downloaded AVG that would be much appreciated!

Can you advise what homepage you have google Chrome set to open, My impression is that AVG has changed your homepage and all you may need to do is change it back.

my home page is set to vodafone nz and that has not changed
when I click to open a new tab (new webpage) the new tab that comes up is AVG search - and that's what I am trying to get rid of
when I used to open a new tab it would have 4 large icons / options under the search box - g-mail, google, you tube..... I would like this page back

In the top corner of the window is a button or link to remove it. (Edit: link in the top right, "restore default new tab")

Happened to me too, but I was too angry about a product I didn't knowingly, install to notice the option to remove it.
