Hi now that all my 3 laptops run on SSDs (120/240/512 GBs! woo hoo) i have a question

Is it necessary to install intel rapid storage technology? It seems all it does is make the fans go berserk on my HTLaptop (I don't want noise thanks!)

None of my SSDs are Intel by the way
OCZ Vertex 2 120gb
Kingston SSDNow V300 240gb
Samsung something or other OEM 512gb

Thanks for the opinion

It depends on the controller. Is it an Intel SATA controller?

in a public show of FAIL i just remembered i downloaded it this morning from the Dell drivers site so the answer will be yes the computer has an intel sata controller :D

i don't think it's needed. but let me leave it alone and see if the fans go berserk still. turning it off for 3 hours have stopped the fans ... now let's watch something ...
