Hi folks,

I have a P6T - Asus mother board and want to install a wireless pci card.

Can someone confirm if this pci card will fit my mother board?

It will, looking at picutres from far, but you should check that your graphics card allows access to the slots - often a big fan or heatsink will invalidate the adjacent slots.

It is a PCI-express card. That family of motherboards has both PCI and PCI-e slots, but on varying models the slots are in different places. PCI-e slots are in varying lengths based on throughput requirements, so it could go in a 'longer' slot and only utilse the first few millimeters. The wifi card is cut to prevent it being put into a PCI slot, so if you are installing it and it seems to require any type of force, check you got it right or not.

I mentioned heatsinks, because on some of those family of motherboards there is only a graphics slot and immediately adjacent pci-e slot that is useless if your graphics card has a big heatsink.

That is a 1X wireless card. It will fix in any PCI-E slot that is larger than it as well as a 1X slot.

In your motherboard picture, there is a black PCI-E 4X slot above the primary PCI-E 16X slot. (in blue)
If you have a video card that does not have a massive heatsink top and bottom, it will fit just fine. If you don't have a video card at all, you can choose between using the larger 16X PCI-E slot or the 1X slot.

The image is the deluxe version, The standard may have a different layout.

Standard as per manual:

2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual x16, blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, white)
1 x PCIe x1

Click the guys links and open the side or read your manual to confirm. As there is a Deluxe, Deluxe V2, PE.. many variants.

Yep, both will be fine. Just pay attention to the slot type. The second card is a pci slot and the first is a pci-e. Your motherboard will fit both as long as you do not have a 2 slot graphics card fouling the free slot you want to plug in to.

You guys were right, the video card was covering the pci e slow. Luckily there was another slot i could move the video card to to free up the space.

Just before i open the box, i ended up purchasing this:

Put your video card in the slot closest to the cpu and then the pcie card in the slot where you currently have your graphics card and see how that goes.
Your also motherboard possibly has a bios setting that decides which pcie slot it will boot graphics from first which could be why it's not booting from that one.

2nd slot being a 16x probably relies on the first being occupied.

Fan could do with a paintbrush gunk removal too..

Video card just wasnt plugged in properly.

Wireless PCI card is rubbish anyway, only get 5mbps out of it.... oh well, will just use cable.
